I hope to describe in
an unsentimental way that we are part of the land, and that it is not
necessarily a safe or benign place.
|
|
|
I do not set out to terrify
or comfort the viewer; I seek a more complex truth.
|
|
|
My aim is to do justice to the existence of the observer, and not encumber the viewer’s perception of the world, but to trigger a willing capacity to find new pathways in old preserves. |
|
|
These paintings are about
an impermanent sense of place, rather than a fixed portrait.
